Character name: Private Leonard L. Church
Fandom: Red vs. Blue
Point in canon taken from: Reconstruction Episode 19, after him and Washington team up
Appearance: Church normally wears cobalt-blue space armor that is boxy in appearance. The armor covers his entire body, with black material (most likely Kevlar) in between the plating and his helmet has a gold-colored visor that allows him to see. However, upon his death, he became a ghost and he became white-colored and transparent. For a little bit of time he possessed the body of Lopez, a brown-armored robot belonging to the Red Team, before Sarge built a new body for Church to inhabit. He re-donned his cobalt-blue color until the present.
Personality: Church is, to put it simply, an asshole. He is angry about close to everything, from his team-killing teammates to being unable to shoot a sniper rifle properly. He curses frequently about even the smallest things and especially when plans go wrong. However, despite all of this, he excels at taking command in stressful situations. He leads the blue team in Blood Gulch, even though he is the same rank as everyone else at the base, and in Reconstruction co-leads the group with Agent Washington. He quickly creates plans that have very low success rates but can be tactical when the situation calls, such as in Reconstruction Chapter 19.
History: Church was stationed in the Blood Gulch Blue Outpost for a considerable amount of time. According to Agent Washington, he is stationed there as to place him as far from the other AIs as possible, who actively seek the Alpha (Church) obsessively. For most of his time in the backwater canyon, he spies on the Red Team’s base through the scope of a sniper rifle with his teammate Lavernius Tucker. When the blue team receives a new member, Michael J. Caboose, Church quickly tells him just how much he hates him and their flag gets stolen. After much tomfoolery, Church ends up dead, his girlfriend ends up dead, and the Red Team still undefeated. However, Church returns as a ghost and possesses several bodies in pursuit of finding a new and empty body to inhabit.

Even after a few months time, Church is found still attempting to adjust to living inside Lopez’s robot body. He ends up negotiating with his not-quite-dead ex-girlfriend, Tex, to destroy her old AI O’Malley in return for Lopez’s body. This fails and Church decides to give Lopez back to the red team with the team medic Doc in return for two new robot bodies, one for Tex and one for Church himself. Sarge, however, placed a bomb inside of Church’s robot body, which explodes and sends everyone but Church himself to the future while he is sent to the distant past. There, he meets Gary, an AI in a computer, who tells Church of a great prophesy about the Great Destroyer who is thought to be Caboose at the time. To try and prevent himself from being stuck in the past for thousands of years, Church attempts to undo all of the wrongs of his time at Blood Gulch but ends up killing himself, his captain Butch Flowers, and creating dozens of copies of himself. Church breaks the time loop after many attempts and rejoins his teammates in the future. There, they meet an alien and a bomb, who send his other teammates Tucker and Caboose on a quest while Church returns to Blood Gulch.

During his last few weeks at Blood Gulch, he witnesses the birth of a baby, the arrival of Sister, and the second death of his ex-girlfriend Tex in a puny explosion. After these events, Church is stationed at and abandoned military base where he lives by himself for fourteen months until Agent Washington and Caboose arrive to ask for his help. Reluctantly, Church agrees to go with them, but only after Washington informs him that O’Malley and Tex have been found. Church ends up co-leader of the group of Reds and Blues with Agent Washington as they strive to take down Project Freelancer. He and Agent Washington infiltrate the inner areas of the Freelancer base to steal Epsilon. There, Washington explains to Church how he [Church] is actually the AI Alpha that all of the other AIs have been seeking. Church disbelieves him until he teams up with Agent Washington to take down Project Freelancer.
